The Pontiac Vibe was a compact crossover hatchback produced between 2002 and 2010 by Pontiac and Toyota. It shared many mechanical components with the Toyota Matrix and Corolla, resulting in a dependable and fuel-efficient vehicle with a versatile design. The Vibe was marketed to young people looking for practical, cheap vehicles with a sporty appearance and modern amenities. The first generation was introduced in 2003 and offered a mix of practicality and sporty styling. It offered a variety of engine options, including a 1.8-liter inline-four, a high-revving 180-horsepower version, and some trim levels with all-wheel drive. The second generation saw design revisions and new engine options, including a larger, more powerful 2.4-liter engine. The Vibe's hatchback form provided plenty of cargo room, and its sturdy plastic floor was easy to clean and wear-resistant.
The Vibe was available in a variety of trim levels, including the base model, the sportier GT trim, and an all-wheel drive (AWD) variant. Despite being discontinued after the 2010 model year following General Motors' decision to phase out the Pontiac brand, the Vibe remains a popular choice on the used car market due to its Toyota reliability, fuel efficiency, and practical design. The Vibe's mechanical twin, the Toyota Matrix, continued production for a few more years before it was phased out as well.
